Banking on Previous Success
The China (Guzhen) International Lighting Fair

The fair has been held four times before, in 1999, 2002, 2004 and 2005. More than 4,000 guests representing 1,000 enterprises from all over the world attended the 1999 fair. The 1999 edition resulted in a windfall far beyond the organizing committee's initial goal. The total volume of transacted deals amounted to RMB 1.1 billion ¡ª about US$ 61.2 million ¡ª with 1,611 sales contracts signed.

The 2002 edition also exceeded initial expectations. Five hundred exhibitors signed up for the fair, attracting 5,000 domestic and international buyers as well as 50,000 visitors. The volume of transacted deals multiplied significantly, with a total of RMB 53.85 billion in deals at the fair's closing. Domestic transactions reached nearly RMB 3.2 billion while overseas transactions amounted to around US$ 13 million. Committed investment rose to RMB 1.106 billion.

The 2004's fair covered an area of 40,000 square meters and featured 650 exhibitors. More than 50,000 professionals from 75 countries and regions attended. During the fair, business talks were active and the volume of transacted deals and investment amounted to RMB 6.86 billion. The success of the fair's previous editions has increased the exhibition's branding as well as its intended impact on the industry.

"The successful 1999, 2002, 2004 and 2005 shows brought about remarkable social and economic benefits," the spokesman said. "It was a solid foundation for the long-term development of Guzhen's lighting industry."
